Oliva Serie O Churchill Review

The Churchill is the long-haul Serie O - a full 7 by 50 that keeps the classic ring and stretches it to a proper seven inches. Mine wore the Ecuadorian Sun Grown Habano wrapper, an even chocolate brown with a light oil, rolled long and straight with a flawless flat cap. The 50 ring keeps the temperature moderate while the length promises a genuinely slow smoke, and slow is the whole appeal here. The cold draw was measured cedar and cocoa with that familiar sweetness underneath - unhurried and elegant before I'd even struck a match.

The Churchill opens slowly and deliberately, the way a seven-inch cigar should - toasted cedar leads, cocoa settles beneath, and the sweet spice comes in soft and patient. There's no rush to any of it; the length means the first third takes its time, and the 50 ring keeps the smoke cool and clean throughout. It's medium and elegant rather than assertive. My draw was smooth and even, giving a generous, cool volume of smoke, and the burn opened wide and level from the start. The ash formed a long, pale, even column that I let extend well past an inch.

The middle rewards patience. The cocoa rounds out, a gentle roasted-coffee note builds without ever getting loud, and the sweetness holds like brown sugar against the toast - the profile evolves in slow, graceful increments across a long stretch of the cigar. The 50 ring keeps everything cool over a leisurely seventy-five minutes, so the notes stay clean and the elegance never breaks into heat. My burn stayed even and true, the long grey column holding proud before I finally tapped it. This is the O at its most stately and relaxed.

The last third deepens the coffee and cedar gently, the sweetness holding and a soft earthiness joining underneath, the body staying comfortably medium even at this length near the nub. My verdict: the Churchill is the slow, elegant Serie O - it draws the blend out to its full length and rewards a patient smoker with a cool, graceful hour and a quarter. The honest caveat is that at seven inches it's a serious time commitment and it stays medium the whole way, so anyone wanting intensity or a quick smoke should look elsewhere, but for a long, relaxed session it's beautifully paced.
