Padrón was founded in 1964 by José Orlando Padrón, a Cuban émigré who settled in Miami after leaving Cuba. The company began with modest Nicaraguan-grown cigars and built its reputation over decades on a single idea: full-bodied, box-pressed cigars made entirely from aged Nicaraguan tobacco.
The brand's standing was cemented by two celebrated releases. The 1964 Anniversary Series, launched to mark the company's 25th year, introduced sun-grown and maduro wrappers over well-aged filler and became a benchmark for Nicaraguan cigars. The 1926 Serie, created for José Orlando's 75th birthday, pushed richness and complexity further still.
